Becoming a Home Start Volunteer
Our belief is that parents play the key role in giving their children the best start in life - and that other parents have the experience and understanding to support those families that need help.

Volunteering offers the chance to give something back, and to really make a difference to the lives of local families. There is no specific qualifications required to be a volunteer and our volunteers come from a huge range of backgrounds and experiences. What they all have in common is parenting experience and a drive to support local families and improve the lives of children.

Please see the links below for information about our various volunteer roles, Volunteer Application Form and Role Profile.
Volunteer Training
-
All of our volunteers complete a training course before they begin a role. This is a combination of face to face training and online training.

-
The training course covers the role of the Home-Start volunteer and provides additional information in the following areas; values, attitudes and inclusivity, confidentiality, listening and communication, meeting the needs of families and safeguarding.

-
Throughout your volunteering journey with us, we will provide you with on going support via a named Coordinator, social events to meet with other volunteers in addition to learning and development opportunities.

-
In addition to an informal interview, you will also be asked to supply two references and complete an Enhanced DBS check. This is in line with our Safer Recruitment procedures.
